Description
The Early Years Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) qualification is designed for Level 3 practitioners working within private, voluntary, or independent early years settings. All early years providers are required to have effective arrangements in place to identify and support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), as well as to promote equality of opportunity for all children in their care. The SENCo role is therefore pivotal in ensuring that children with SEND achieve the best possible educational outcomes.

Duration
There will be an expectation for learners to achieve the qualification within 6 months.
Assessment
Assessment is through assignments, observation and submission of evidence in a portfolio to demonstrate that the requirements are met to a relevant standard.
Entry requirements
Learners must be 19+ and hold a Level 3 Early Years qualification. They should already be in a SENCo role or interested in doing so.
Qualification
The qualification you will gain is the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Technical Specialist in Special Educational Needs Co?ordinators in Early Years Settings (Award).

To achieve this qualification, learners are required to successfully complete two mandatory units.

The Early Years Special Educational Needs Co?ordinator (SENCo) qualification is aimed at Level 3 practitioners working in private, voluntary, or independent early years settings.
All early years providers are required to have appropriate arrangements in place to identify and support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and to promote equality of opportunity for all children in their care. The SENCo plays a vital role in ensuring these responsibilities are met and in supporting the achievement of the best possible educational outcomes for children with SEND.
This qualification is designed for practitioners who are already carrying out SENCo responsibilities as part of their role, as well as those who aspire to take on the SENCo role within an early years setting. The qualification is also suitable for childminders.
