The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to become early years educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to five years and gain knowledge of children aged five to seven years. Upon achievement of this qualification, it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as early years educators and be included in staff to child ratios.

Introducing the qualification
The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to become early years educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to five years and gain knowledge of children aged five to seven years.

Duration
There will be an expectation for candidates to achieve the diploma within 18 months.

Assessment
Assessment is through assignments, observation and submission of evidence in a portfolio to demonstrate that the requirements are met to a relevant standard.

Entry requirements
The qualification is designed for learners who are 19+.There are no formal qualification requirements, but learners may find it helpful if they have previously acheived a full and relevant Level 2 qualification or hold transferable skills preparing learners to study at level 3. The qualification requires learners to be in a work environment throughout the duration of the qualification before certification. The total nu,ner of mandatory work hours is a minimum of 300 hours.

Qualification structure
Candidates must achieve 95 credits to demonstrate their knowledge of the subject as well as demonstrate competence in the workplace.

Delivery methods
A workplace coach will be assigned to support the learner through the qualification. This will involve observation of the learner and ssessing evidence for the portfolio. There are mandatory workshops either online or at one of our ACL centres, to support the learner through the knowledge and understanding.
Competence based units are assessed in the workplace, using observation, witness testimonies, work products, learner statements and questioning.

Cost
Depending on your existing qualifications and circumstances this course may be fully funded, this will be discussed upon application to join the course.
