The qualification you will achieve will be NCFE Level 3 Certificate in User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI).

Who is the course for?
This course is suitable for adults aged 19+ including:
Learners returning to education after a break;
Career changers seeking entry into digital, creative, or technology roles;
Individuals working in digital, marketing, or creative roles who want formal UX/UI skills;
Learners progressing from Level 2 digital or creative qualifications.

No previous experience in UX/UI design is required, although basic digital skills and an interest in design or technology are recommended.

What can I expect to learn?
Throughout the course, learners will develop a broad range of skills and knowledge related to user experience and user interface design. This includes understanding user-centred and inclusive design principles, applying accessibility and usability standards within digital environments, and carrying out user research using methods such as personas and user journeys. Learners will explore how information is structured through information architecture and wireframing, before developing effective visual interfaces using layout, colour, and typography. The course also covers prototyping and usability testing, enabling learners to review, refine, and confidently justify their design decisions. Learning is embedded through practical, scenario-based activities that reflect real world digital design tasks.

How will I learn?
You will learn through a flexible blend of tutor-led sessions, practical activities, and independent study. Learning focuses on hands on tasks that allow you to apply skills in realistic digital design scenarios, supported by clear guidance from your tutor.
Your progress is assessed through a portfolio of work aligned to NCFE requirements, rather than written exams, enabling you to demonstrate your knowledge and competence through practical evidence.
Throughout the course, you will receive ongoing feedback and access to one-to-one support. The course is designed to be supportive and manageable for adult learners, particularly those balancing study with work, family, or other commitments.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Your tutor will give feedback as appropriate throughout the course to help you gauge your progress. Feedback may be verbal or written. You will record your progress on an individual learning plan.

Will I have to do any work at home ?
Learners are expected to undertake homework tasks outside of the classroom to reinforce key concepts and maximise their learning experience

What will I need to provide?
You will need a laptop, PC or tablet, with audio and webcam facility, internet connection and Google Chrome browser, an email address and be able to access websites.

Notepad and pen for note taking.

What can I do next?
On successful completion, learners may progress to:
Level 4 or higher qualifications in UX, UI, digital design, web development, or related subjects;
Apprenticeships within digital and creative sectors;
Entry-level or junior roles such as UX assistant, junior UI designer, digital designer, or content designer;
Further professional development or freelance digital work.
