Description

A calm and supportive introduction to using smartphones and tablets for everyday life. This course focuses on helping learners feel comfortable and confident using their device while staying safe online. Everything is explained clearly and explored at a steady pace, with reassurance and practical guidance throughout.

Who is the course for?
Adults aged 19+ who are new to using smartphones or tablets, or who lack confidence using digital devices safely. The course is ideal for learners who want to build independence and feel more relaxed using their device in day to day situations.


What can I expect to learn?
You’ll learn how to use your smartphone or tablet more comfortably, including making calls, sending messages, and using apps. You’ll explore simple ways to change settings, manage your device, and protect your personal information when online. By the end of the course, you’ll feel more confident using your device safely in everyday life.

How will I learn?
The sessions will be interactive with video and audio for tutor presentation and demonstration.The tutor will guide you through the sessions to ensure that you achieve the course outcomes.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Your tutor will give feedback as appropriate throughout the course to help you gauge your progress. Feedback may be verbal or written. You will record your progress on an individual learning plan.

Will I have to do any work at home ?
No homework will be set but it is highly recommended that all new skills are put into practice outside of the class.

What will I need to provide?
This is a 'bring your own device' course. It would also be helpful to bring a notepad and pen for making notes.

What can I do next?
After this course, learners can progress to IT Video Calling with Family and Friends to build confidence communicating online. Learners may also move on to IT Introduction to Online Banking & Shopping or IT Connecting with your Community Online, applying their skills to everyday digital tasks. With increased confidence, learners can progress to IT Digital Basics for the Modern Workplace or other IT courses as appropriate.
