Who is the course for?
Adults aged 19+ who want to feel safer and more confident when using digital devices and services. The course is ideal for learners who feel unsure about online risks or who want to better protect their personal information.

What can I expect to learn?
You’ll learn how to recognise common online scams and understand how they try to trick people. You’ll explore simple ways to protect your personal information, create safer passwords, and spot warning signs when something doesn’t feel right. By the end of the course, you’ll feel more confident making safe decisions online.

How will I learn?
The sessions will be interactive with video and audio for tutor presentation and demonstration.The tutor will guide you through the sessions to ensure that you achieve the course outcomes.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Your tutor will give feedback as appropriate throughout the course to help you gauge your progress. Feedback may be verbal or written. You will record your progress on an individual learning plan.

Will I have to do any work at home ?
No homework will be set but it is highly recommended that all new skills are put into practice outside of the class.

What will I need to provide?
You are welcome to bring your own device for this course. It would also be helpful to bring a notepad and pen for making notes.

What can I do next?
After this course, learners may progress to IT Introduction to Online Banking & Shopping to apply safety skills to managing money online. Learners can also move on to IT Online Safety for all the Family or IT Connecting with your Community Online, building confidence in wider online use. With increased confidence, learners may progress to IT Digital Basics for the Modern Workplace or other IT courses as appropriate.
