Description
A practical introduction to using the internet to stay connected with your local community and interests. This course helps learners feel more confident using online spaces to communicate, find support, and take part in community life. Everything is explored clearly with guidance on using technology safely and positively.
Who is the course for?
Adults aged 19+ who want to feel more connected to their community or who are new to using the internet socially.
What can I expect to learn?
You’ll explore how to find and join online community groups, local forums, and social platforms. You’ll practise communicating online, sharing information, and staying connected while learning how to do this safely and confidently.
How will I learn?
The sessions will be interactive with video and audio for tutor presentation and demonstration.The tutor will guide you through the sessions to ensure that you achieve the course outcomes.
How will I know how well I am doing?
Your tutor will give feedback as appropriate throughout the course to help you gauge your progress. Feedback may be verbal or written. You will record your progress on an individual learning plan.
Will I have to do any work at home ?
No homework will be set but it is highly recommended that all new skills are put into practice outside of the class.
What will I need to provide?
It would be helpful to bring a notepad and pen for making notes.

Learners may progress to IT Video Calling with Family and Friends or IT Online Safety for all the Family to build confidence using communication tools safely.
