This session is about being with others, practising sharing and taking turns with toys, talking to them about how they are feeling and why, Looking at story books together and speaking about what characters are feeling. Encouraging them to set boundaries for themselves

What is this course about?
Getting your child ready for Reception in September 2026 is about building a foundation of independence, social confidence and curiosity. These sessions are designed to align with the Early Years Framework ensuring your child transations from home or nursery to the classroom. This preparation program focuses on the "whole child" prioritising the practical and emotional skills that teachers value the most for a successful start.

Who is the course for?
Parents/carers and grandparents of children living in Essex who have a child starting Reception in September 2026.

What can I expect to learn?
You will have an understanding of how you can help your child to prepare for their transition to Reception.

How will I learn?
The sessions will be facilitated by a tutor online.

How will I know how well I am doing?
You will be given tutor feedback at the end of each task. The tutor will work with you to support you with any individual issues that you may be experiencing.

Will I have to do any work at home ?
You will be given exercises to try out at home.

What will I need to provide?
A device suitable for accessing Microsoft Teams for online courses.
